History of the Protein and Peptide Sciences Conference in Iran

The Protein and Peptide Sciences Conference is recognized as one of the most important scientific events in Iran, focusing on the latest achievements and research in this vital field. This report outlines the history of these conferences from the first to the fifth edition.

First Conference (December 2014)

The inaugural Protein and Peptide Sciences Conference in Iran was held on December 19 and 20, 2014, at Shiraz University. The conference was attended by more than 300 professors, students, and researchers from across the country at the Faculty of Science. During this edition, 46 papers were presented as oral presentations, and 242 were displayed as posters, reflecting a broad interest in this scientific field.

Second Conference (April 2016)

The second edition of the Protein and Peptide Sciences Conference took place on April 8 and 9, 2016, at Isfahan University. In this edition, 280 papers were submitted to the conference secretariat, of which 260 were accepted. Ultimately, 38 papers were presented orally, while the remainder were displayed as posters.

Third Conference (April 2018) 

The third edition of the Protein and Peptide Sciences Conference occurred on May 5 and 6, 2018, at Shiraz University. This edition featured Nobel Prize winner Professor Robert Huber and attracted more than 350 domestic and international researchers from countries such as Switzerland, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Austria, and Russia. Of the approximately 300 papers submitted to the conference secretariat, around250 were accepted, with 200 presented as posters and 50 as oral presentations. During this edition, five specialized workshops were also held with experts from reputable international companies.

Fourth Conference (April 2019) 

The fourth Protein and Peptide Sciences Conference took place on May 11 and 12, 2019, at Isfahan University. In this edition, out of 250 submitted papers, 190 were accepted, with 32 presented as oral presentations and the remainder as posters. Additionally, three workshops related to protein and peptide sciences were organized over the two days of the conference.

Fifth Conference (May 2024) 

The fifth edition of the Protein and Peptide Sciences Conference was hosted by the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics (IBB) at the University of Tehran on May 19 and 20, 2024. In this edition, approximately 300 research works submitted by scientists and researchers in the protein and peptide field were reviewed by the scientific committee, of which 230 were accepted. During this two-day conference, 43 distinguished scientists and prominent researchers delivered talks, while the remaining accepted works were presented as posters.

Sixth Conference (September 2025) 

We are proud to announce the sixth edition of this significant scientific event, which will bring together researchers and scientists in the fields of protein and peptide sciences. This conference is scheduled to take place over three days, from September 4 to 6, 2025, at Shahid Beheshti University
